Announcements '); } '); } Superintendent's Message I am extremely humbled to have been chosen as Colonial Heights' new Superintendent. As with any Superintendent, my role is to make sure that we are providing the best possible education for our students before they head off into the world by not only giving them the knowledge that they need but also the ability to be critical-thinkers. The teachers and staff that have been assembled before my arrival are doing some phenomenal things, which is reflected in the 18 year history of full accreditation. This accolade is a combination of every staff member from PreK - 12th grade that we employ, as well as the unwavering support from our families, community and school board. There are some great things happening in Colonial Heights Public Schools and I look forward to many years of being a contributing member of the district. Regular school attendance is a habit, and it starts in elementary school. Being present every day at school helps students not only to achieve academically but also to develop good attendance habits that will serve them well in school and eventually the workplace. Here are some tips to help improve a student’s attendance: Parents should emphasize the importance of school at home. If a parent believes that school is important, the child will too. Reward good attendance with praise or a treat – let the student know that exemplary attendance is noticed and appreciated. Try to schedule any appointments after school hours or when school is not in session. Avoid planning family vacations that conflict with regular school days.
